Clever Badge Teacher Guide

Clever badges are an easy way to enable fast and secure Chromebook logins for your student. Clever badges use QR code technology to associate the badge to your student's RSU1 issued Google account. Just a flash of the badge in front of the Chromebook camera and they are on their way. Once logged in, your student can use the computer without ever entering a username and password.

Teachers are the first line of support for students when it comes to Clever badges. Teachers can print badges, void badges, and create new badges. Teachers also have the tools required to troubleshoot issues related to the badge login.

Where do I go to print my class's Clever badges?

There are two ways that you can find the Clever Portal:

  1. Use the RSU1 Bookmark. Click the 3 dot / hot dog / kebab menu (at the top right of Chrome,) mouse over Bookmarks > RSU1 Bookmarks. Then choose "Clever Portal."

  2. In the address bar at the top of the screen enter: https://clever.com/in/rsu1

Once at the portal, just click "Sign in with Google."

You will then be on your Clever Dashboard.

How can I print the Clever badges for my class once I log in?

Clever has a great little how to guide found here. It is broken into 4 sections:

  1. Print ALL student badges at once (This is for all classes you teach.)

  2. Print one class's set of badges.

  3. Print one student's badge.

  4. Please VOID any badge that has been lost in a public place
Steps to Void a badge can be found with the steps of printing a single student's badge.

Note: Parents don't have their own access to Clever to print badges.
HOWEVER students can login to the Clever portal and download their badge.

Once I have download my badges, where are they saved?

Unless you have changed your Chromebook settings, these badges should be able to be found in your Google Drive as a PDF.

How does a student login to a Chromebook with a Clever badge?

Clever offers a short guide on what it looks like to use a badge to login on a Chromebook. Check it out here!

As a side note, the Clever badge doesn't have to be on paper for it to work! You can save it on your phone or another computer and scan the code right off the screen!

How does a student login to the Chromebook without a Clever badge?

If you lose or damage the Clever badge, you can always use the student's username and password instead. The video under "How does my student sign in with a Clever badge?" shows how to do that.

These steps are also found on the Guide under: "Recommended login flow for logging in with Google."

The Chromebook does not show an option to use a Clever badge. What can I do?

There are two things that are known to fix this issue:

  1. Make sure that you are connected to WiFi by clicking the time and and looking at the cone shaped icon. It should be blue and should say the name of a network below it with weak, medium, or strong noted under that. Image a. below.

  2. Press the back button if you are being prompted for an email or phone. Image b. below

  3. If neither of these work, please contact us at the Technology department using the information found here.
